What is Pediatric Imaging?

Pediatric radiology is a subspecialty of radiology that uses imaging procedures for the diagnosing of medical conditions in young children. Procedures include radiography or X-Ray, ultrasound, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Inland Imaging provides special training and subspecialty expertise to accommodate the special needs of the pediatric patient (and their caregiver). The imaging procedure for most small children can be uncertain. The imaging team makes every effort to properly explain the procedure in advance to reassure the pediatric patient and their parents/caregivers.

Pediatric imaging can present some challenges. Unlike adults, children cannot always understand or feel comfortable in an imaging environment. Pediatric staff members are friendly and inviting to better ensure a child’s imaging experience is positive. A child can have trouble staying still for their imaging test, especially if they are experiencing pain. As result, Inland Imaging has requested parents of children under the age of six consult their doctor about alternative imaging services.
